problem with fonts in kmenu and kontrolpanel and wine after ati driver installation

hi guys,

this evening I installed the latest ati-driver (ati-installer 8.23.7) on my laptop. I was surprised how smooth it worked and was astounished by the working glxgears and fgl_glxgears. a lot of fps and that in only 5 seconds, wow*ggg.

ok, that was the fine part. now the problems:

1) The fonts in the control panel and the kmenu is very tiny now and was searching google and the forum for hours but no way to fix this.
2) I used to work with tax2006, a tax program running under wine, and now - although all other programs work fine - the screen gets black and I am not able to get it back working, only by restarting X with 'strg-alt-backspace'.

As I said, I am very surprised about the fast and easy install with the ati installer, but I would like to be able working with my linux laptop without using glasses with 100 Dioptries*g for the Kmenu and I also would like to finish my tax declaration....*g

The installation procedure was very simple:
i) sh ati-driver-installer-8.23.7 ....
ii) aticonfig --initial

That's what I did.

xorg.conf looks like that:

update

ok found a solution for the wine problem related to the installation of the latest ati driver:

not really a solution but it works. the screen gets black after starting tax2005 which is running under wine. pressing "strg-alt-f1" (switching to console) and back with "strg-alt-f7" (back to X) works and the screen is there as usual. strange, but it works.

now, there is only remaining the problem with the very very tiny fonts in the kmenu and the kde panels (window bar and the description and names for the buttons in the panels) after the installation of the latest ati driver from the ati homepage with the ati installer.

this is the only problem with the ati driver, anything else works well.

anyone out there to help?
