Problem in getting telnet client prompt by pressing Escape character( ctrl -] )

Hi

I am trying to connect a linux telnet server from windows XP mechine. After connection,I need to press ctrl-] escape character to go to command mode and execute telnet client commands.I am using a tool which will connect to telnet server and execute commands.I have to pass escape character(ctrl-]) as command to telnet server which will be executed and mode will be shifted from session mode to command mode. This command execution is failing. i am unable to get telnet client prompt. can anybody tell me how i will pass this escape character to telnet server so that i will get telnet client prompt. currently i am converting the ASCII value of this character into string(C++) and passing it.

Thanks in advance

Prassanta
