Possible to instal KDE & Gnome with suse 10.0?

Is it possible to install both KDE & Gnome with suse 10? When I select one the other is unselected. With Fedora Core 4 you can chose one, the other or both. There are things I like with each and would like to have both so I can try them out and decide if there is one I want more then the other without having to reformat the computer.

Now just have to try it out and see if I can get it to work.

It's definitely possible. I installed Gnome on my computers (was always a KDE guy, then switched to XFCE, then wanted to try something new). I didn't really like it, though - it's just not my style - and installed KDE (which I never really used to like under Mandrake, but it looks GREAT under SuSE!).

The one thing you might want to keep your eyes on is the "My Computer" icon. KDE needs it to point to "media:/", while Gnome needs (correct me if I'm wrong) "drives:/".

So if you click on the icon and nothing happens, don't worry, you haven't messed anything up!

By the way, don't stop with just Gnome and KDE. Give XFCE a shot, maybe Blackbox, and a few others. It's fun to give your system a makeover now and then. The best thing is, playing around with new desktop managers/environments won't commit you to anything - you don't like it? Fine, just choose a different on on your next login!

Dave

Thanks got both working. I'll check out some other GUIs sometime. I'm still very new to most of linux and suse.

Can you change mouse pointers? I hate the standard one for KDE when mousing over a link, the finger on the hand is lie 3 times as long as it should be and it just gives me the heebee jeebies. And if possible to change pointers can you use animated windows pointer? I have a whole bunch of cool Star Wars pointers (and Icons) I've collected over the years and would love to add them into my system.

same problem with the mouse pointers. looked in the help, but no help. not finding it for some reason.

Also, what is the best anti-aliased font and suggested resolution for KDE? seems like the default AA font has problems for me. it looks blurry, not smooth. I move it around on the screen and the blur stays with it. I type different characters, and it goes away. same text strings in a different part of a paragraph look ok, it looks like i need a better AA font. Windows on the same setup with its "clear type" tech looks ok, what is the linux equivalent?
