possible graphics card issue on startup

Hello there

Having installed Suse 9.2 pro on my new pc, I came across a rather large problem. When I load linux, the login screen becomes corrupt to such and extent that it becomes unusable. It is just a mess of coloured lines. The install seemed to be fine, it didn't report any errors, and the boot screen works also. It also appears to work in failsafe mode.

My suspicion is that it is not accepting my graphics card (nvidia geforce 6600). My processor is an amd64 3400+ s939

any help would be greatly appreciated

nvidia cards require a driver. YaST identified updates will include optional updates for your card or you can go to nvidia website.

I am downloading the latest driver as we speak. Unfourtunatly I'm not using YaST, as I can't even see the screen to logon.

I'll post again with results.
