Playing videos without sound?

One of my new mobo's is too new for the onboard sound to be supported. It will not play videos of any kind since it can't find a sound card (even videos without sound). Can one create a bitbucket/fake sound device to get around this? I don't really need the sound portition anyways.

i'm sure you can just turn the sound off in your app... but you didn't even tell us what application you're trying to play them in... on mplayer just use "-nosound"
