PCI card init (ISDN) failure, SuSE Prof. 9.0

I am trying to initialize a TeteS ISDN card. The HiSax card is detected, but:

A but further down:
"HFC-SX driver Rev. 1.1.4.1
Teles 16.3c2 detected

Even further down it tries to use IRQ5, but gets no response, and finally unloads.

I have installed without acpid as I thought that might be behind hangs during installation (relating to sound card which I finally disabled).

So where do I go from here?

This was related to another problem related elsewhere: A dud memory module (intermittent fault) sometimes cause things to go wrong during installation/configuration, and only then.

is IRQ 5 already assigned in bios? you might want to try messing with that.

if it is an intermittent memory fault only affecting installation, perhaps try reinstalling several times to see if you get lucky, lol.

i had (might still have around here somewhere) 2 traverse tech isdn cards i was trying to multiplex to aggrigate 250k a couple years ago, and could get them working independantly, but not multiplexed. if you don't get an answer, i could dig up some of my old notes, and we might be able to get it going from the command line (you could have my ISDN cards if you are in the US or use the same standard, and don't mind paying shipping/handling).

just noticed i also have an Eicon Diva ISDN Lan Modem i haven't used in a year or two (i live in the sticks so used to have ISDN). you logon via ethernet and any web-browser, thus it is operating system independant, and simplifies os management considerably (one less piece of hdw and drivers to worry about). it also does NAT and basic routing.

send me an email if you're interested... i couldn't find those old traverse cards though... might have thrown them away...sry

Tomorrow I'm due to receive an ADSL connection, bye-bye ISDN.
