Opensuseupdater does not perform updating

Hi,

I've been happily using SUSE since 10.0.

Currently run 10.3 with KDE 3.59 (only), regularly updated.

Yesterday, after performing optional updates to the latest KDE packages, opensuseupdater reported availability of 4 additional updates.

Ever since, my attempts to install updates via opensuseupdater result in that immediately after root password provided the applet goes "Checking for updates", communicates with the repositories, returns the list on available updates, and that's it. No updating performed.

Repositories may be removed and added, and the returned list of updates changes accordingly.
Updating via YaST is possible.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this situation are much appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

try this, as I had a similar problem and this fixed it.

1. click the desktop and press Alt+F2

2. type:

Code:
kdesu /sbin/yast2 'sw_single'
this starts software management directly

once all the updating and reading is finished, go to the drop-down menu and select "installation summary"

on the left hand side, check the box that says 'keep'

all your packages should be listed now

right click on one of them and go to "all in this list"

click "update if new version avaliable"

then click accept

good luck,

I am having the same problem. It seems that the recent KDE update has changed something. When you start the updater it askes for the root password. There is a keep password box now, uncheck the keep password box and the updater works like it should.

Or you can remove the KDE update source you added and revert to the original KDE it shipped with.

Thank you both for you posts, gents.

rabbit2345.
As I said, I had no problem to update from within YaST.

BruceCadieux.
It does work with "Remember password" unchecked. Great.
