OpenSuSE10.2 and AVG 7.5 Q...

...today I uninstalled avg 7.1 (unsupported) and installed the 7.5 version...no dependencies errors came up and the program appeared in my start menu so I thought all was well...no luck, when I click on the icon in the start menu the cursor bounces for about 30-40 seconds showing me the AVG four-colored icon and then just disappear's...the program doesnt load.

I can run the program from the cli using > avgscan {options} and all is well...
...but when I try to launch the GUI with > avggui I get the following error:

linux-2wrl:/home/linux_fan # avggui
/opt/grisoft/avggui/prog/config.py:12: DeprecationWarning: The sre module is deprecated, please import re.
import sre
avggui: can't find file /opt/grisoft/avggui/config/userinfo.cfg

...not being a programmer I really dont have a clue how to pursue/correct this error...obviously a file or something is missing. I installed this rpm via YAST rather
than the cli...could that be it? Or perhaps I didnt remove all of the old version?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you installed the http://www.grisoft.cz/filedir/inst/a..._suse.i386.rpm file? The problem is probably that the rpm you installed didn't have its dependencies correctly set.

auxsvr...this is the rpm I...

downloaded and installed:

avg75fls-r45-a0973.i386.rpm

"didn't have its dependencies correctly set."...

not sure what you mean by this?

I keep remembering when I installed ver 7.1...I did that via the cli and this
time with 7.5 via YAST...would that make a difference?

thanks for your time!

I tried installing avg75fls-r45-a0973.i386.rpm and I have deps. pygtk2=>2 is the dependency.
I'm on Opensuse 10.2.

You need to install python-gtk in addition to the avggui file I mentioned above. "didn't have its dependencies correctly set" means that Grisoft didn't write a proper specfile for the RPM, which caused this problem to you.
