OpenSuse media playback problem

Hi there,

I am from Ubuntu, and I installed the 13.1 Gnome 64bits, I couldn't playback any video including DVD, mp3 plays fine, but all video missing plugin/codec like H.264 and MS Mpeg 442, I already installed Gstreamer plugins, and even download the Fluendo trial pack, but still none of the video playback correctly, I got only sound and error no video at all. I follow OpenSuse guide '1-click installation' of media codec but still the same, I tried everything but nothing works, any idea ?

you should read the suse wiki on "restricted formats"
http://en.opensuse.org/Restricted_formats

and use the "packman" repo
in the yast gui tool
install the packman epo
set the " install and remove software" tool to "allow vender change"
( as in replace the suse versions with the packman versions of programs )

and install gstreamer from packman

Hi
install VLC and KAFFEINE from the PACMAN repo (and possibly LIBDVDCSS2). Another selection also - choose VLC-Codecs as well.

All problems should be fixed.

Cheers

Yes, I install back Gnome with VLC, and most codec installed by default as well.

PS. I don’t know what caused the double space in this post, did I press the wrong key ?

Probably using mono fonts.

Anyway, Packman one click installer should cover you.
