openSUSE 10.2: Cannot run YAST2 anymore

Hi

I'm having a problem with YAST2 since a restart and was hoping that someone could help me.

In Gnome when I click on YAST I am asked for the root password a usual which I enter, but nothing happens so I typed typing YAST in the terminal and it opened fine.

However, I am fond of GUI's so I typed in YAST2.... it gave me this:

/sbin/yast2: line 274: 5403 Floating point exception$ybindir/y2controlcenter $Y2QT_ARGS "$@"

Thanks in advance

Not to worry. I did a reinstall of Suse; which, of course, fixed the problem

Ok, it stopped working again. But I've noticed it is not just YAST, but other things are getting affected as well (eg. the game Chromium B.S.U.)

I've now done 3 reinstalls of SUSE. I think I'm getting close to finding what it is that's causing the problem.

I know no one has replied to this yet, but I'll keep on posting in case this helps anyone else with the same problem.

BREAKTHROUGH!

I know what it is! The problem is being caused by the proprietary ATI drivers for my 'half height' ATI Radeon x1300 Pro...... now how to fix it?

no chance to fix it other than a new ATI driver, comes out every month... or take an older stable one...
