Question Online Updates

Ever since I installed 11.2, KD34, I haven't gotten any patches or upgrades. My repository has all the repositories needed and they're enabled. I've tried to refresh but get this Error: "Download failed
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium "http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/4.3/opensuse_11.2'."

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

The URL is not correct or at least it does not exist anymore. have a look at download.opensuse.org/repositories/, maybe you need download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2/.

Do you mean that no package has been ever updated since the fresh installation or only the KDE related ones?

Yes

It's never updated anything. (I think) Not like 11 did. Thanks for the reply.

Still won't work

Update package installer, still isn't working. I tried installing zypper but I keep getting "download failed".

More information needed. Please, be sure you are connected to internet and post the output of the following commands (as root):
Code:
# tail -50 /var/log/zypp/history
# zypper repos -u
# zypper lu
these will show information about the last activity of the package manager, the list of the available repositories along with their complete URI and a list of available updates (useful in this case to see error messages, if any). Thx.

Ops... no. Sorry, the # sign in the command above is the command prompt (you should ignore it and yes... I shouldn't have put it). Please, these are the commands I were interested in:
Code:
tail -50 /var/log/zypp/history
zypper repos -u
zypper lu
Anyway, from the last command I see the wrong path of the KDE repository is still there. You should correct it, since it's the reason of the error
Code:
'/repodata/repomd.xml' not found
However it is not mandatory to retrieve system updates (for now). Moreover, what did you answer to the addressed question? "ignore" would have been the correct one, so that we could see what other refreshes it would have tried.

At this point better to check ALL the configured repositories and see if the URIs are correct and if they are correctly enabled and/or refreshed. This was the aim of the suggested command (zypper repos -u).

The repositories all say "yes" except 'repo-source, openSuse-11.2 Source' which says no.

When I hover over the suse update icon, which is a caution sign, I get this Error: PackageKit Error repo-not-available:File '/repodata/repomd.xml 'not found on medium'/http://download.openSUSE.org/repositories/KDE:/43/openSUSE_11.2'

Ok. Thank you. I have to ask you a little favour: please edit your own post above and cut
or delete the longest line with hyphens and plus sign (below the zypper repos -u command)
otherwise this thread becomes unreadable.

What happens here is that for some reason the package manager failed to install a new
version of itself. Usually when you do "online update" from Yast, OpenSuse first offers
to install zypper and its related packages only, then you have to run "online update"
again in order to install all the remaining updates. However the zypper installation,
or better the libzypp update failed:
Code:
# 2010-06-08 18:44:46 libzypp-6.21.2-1.1.1.i586.rpm install failed
# rpm output:
# error: Failed dependencies:
and most likely this causes all subsequent errors (almost).

Even if you could not post the repositories list, I suggest the following:

1) Quit the OpenSuse update icon in the panel, so that we are sure it does not interfere
with other processes

2) In Yast go to Software Repositories and disable all of them BUT the:
OSS
NON-OSS
UPDATE
repositories. You can re-enable them later, when we have solved the issues. Also check
the URL of OSS, NON-OSS and UPDATE using the internet browser (you have to be sure
they point to the correct URL - this is what happens for example to the KDE:/43/...
repository as we have already verified).

3) When you have verified the three repos above, try to Refresh them one at a time,
using the refresh button. Start from OSS, then NON-OSS and finally UPDATE. If Yast
complains about something, please post the relevant error messages.

4) If the refresh has completed successfully, try Yast --> Online Update and see if it suggests
only the libzypp and zypper packages groups. Accept without selecting any other package and see
what happens. In case of errors, please post again the last (new) lines of /var/log/zypp/history.

Waiting for results. Good luck!

Ok with the url of OSS, NON OSS and UPDATE. Refreshed these three w/o any problem. /var/log/zypp/history/ was so long I never got to the end of it.

Ok, but you can always see the last N lines using the tail command, as in previous example.
I cannot be of much help, if I cannot see some error messages. Also, what is the result of
point 4 above? Did "Online Updates" show a list of updates to apply? Or did it immediately
abort with or without some pop-up message? Or what else?

raysr, please - can you edit your post #9 and cut or remove the long line with dashes? It
really makes this thread hard to read. Thank you.
