NVIDIA 6800 Ultra dual head, 2 video cards
During the SuSE 10.0 install, with 2 PCI-E 6800 Ultra dual-head cards, the system will lock up in the hardware detection. We got around it by removing the second card, and installing. Or, you can just reboot the machine afterwards, and it seems okay. However, when you try and detect hardware again through the hardware manager, it does the same thing.
Anyone see this, or know of a better workaround? |
Yikes is that an SLI setup. Might be kind of dicey in terms of hardware support. Do Nvidia linux drivers support this setup yet? I thought it was kind of a pain in the ass in terms of drivers every new game almost required a new driver etc, etc.
Sorry I am not helping at all really :) . But probably a nice rig u got there :) |
What's funny is there is this "README" file that gives info on the system (always wondered what those were for...). Turns out there is lockup issues with NVIDIA 6x00 and SuSE 10.0 drivers. So, that's probably what is going on. If you just install with the two cards, let it hang, and reboot, seems to work fine. The only problem is you can't change any of the hardware stuff because it tries to detect everything, including the video card. Luckily, we only use the defaults. Nice computers, wish I could afford one for home.
