No sound for Intel Sound Card in Suse 10.0

I just upgraded my parents computer from Suse 9.2 to Suse 10.0 and everything is working great except there is no sound. The sound card worked fine in 9.2. It is an integrated sound card Im not sure the model. Yast recognizes it as a D865perl Mainboard and uses the snd-intel8x0 driver. I have tried manually selecting other intel models but still no sound. I looked through the log files and found a few things that make it look like an issue with resmgr.

Oct 30 22:34:50 linux resmgr[4562]: set_facl() - ACL error
on /dev/snd/pcmC0D4p, acl_set_file: No such file or directory

Oct 30 22:34:51 linux resmgr[4562]: set_facl() - ACL error on /dev/snd/timer,
acl_set_file: No such file or directory

Oct 30 22:35:25 linux kernel: intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 55151
usecs
Oct 30 22:35:25 linux kernel: intel8x0: clocking to 48000

I've checked in /dev/snd and all of those files exist. There was something else in the log file I cant find it now about resmgr being unable to connect to something due to a broken pipe. I tried turning resmgr off but that didnt work also it made me turn off alsa when I turned resmgr off Im not sure why I guess they depend on each other for something. I dont know very much about resmgr so I have no idea were to start with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just ran across your post, a bit late but I will reply anyway...

I had a similar problem when I upgraded from Fedora 3 to 4, though the problem I had also affected video. What I found was that there are some issues with the Intel on board 8x0 chipset (mine is the 810). Intel has not been updating the drivers for this particular chipset and one of the shared libraries is no longer compatible with the outdated driver. There are some hacked drivers out on the net but I was able to resolve the video and sound issues by running a yum update on my system. I never did find out exactly which libraries were causing the problems though but obviously the update did the trick. My recommendation would be that you make sure all your libraries are up to date and go from there.

I do find it rather odd that Intel isn't keeping up with the chipset drivers as this chipset is used in the Dell Power Edge SC430 servers...Ill send an email to program management at Intel I am sure they will get right on it

Thanks for replying. I'll look through my libraries and maybe try to look at some of those hacked drivers when I get a chance. That sucks though that Intel isn't updating their drivers. Oh well not much we can do.
