Nice surprise Kaffeine plays Reg 1 and Reg 2 disks

I never realized it but Kaffeine seems to play Region 1 and Region 2 discs without any problem and without requiring any hardware firmware upgrades / software regional coding bypasses.

My Sony VAIO laptop doesn't have any probs with NTSC / PAL discs -- but kaffeine seems to totally bypass any region encoding (unlike Windows where the discs can't even be read in DATA mode --never mind about being actually played).

I've always thought that regional encoding --especially on a Laptop which is intended to be used on the move / in different areas is a totally absurd concept anyway.

Nice one Linux -- for once it's WAY ahead of Windows.

Windows -- Nearly 100% GONE (only using for Photoshop and some Ms Office funcs).

Apart from a little glitch with this release 10.0 (Wireless -- since fixed in a different post) I'm really liking 10.0 more and more.

Cheers

well that's nothing to do with kaffiene, it'll be libdvdread in the backend, same for MPlayer, Xine, Totem etc...

btw... just get crossover office for PS and office, worth the money easy.
