have a same problem as in first post, opensuse 11 x86-64 kde3.4 freezing after boot in minutes, first keyboard, second mouse and completely freeze. Cannot even load a failsafe, it says "ata link disabled" after trying to find hdd, it repeats 2 times then it fall back to emergency console...
my conf:
A64 X2 3800+ socket 939, nforce4, 1gb ddr1, 80gb ide, 80gb sata(winxp and opensuse here), 320gb sata, tv tuner, wifi card, m-audio pci soundcard, 8600gt 256mb.
Opensuse 10.3 runs great on this, but 11 freezes. maybe it is coz im installed opensuse to logical partition? not as main partition (main is ntfs with winxp).
Anybody know how to solve this problem?

On my machine, I can start kwrite as root by typing /opt/kde3/bin/kwrite
Edit: The easy way is to type 'kdesu kwrite' then enter your password.

Reason: Added kdesu command

I had a problem with my glidepad on my laptop with 11.0 it took some tinkering but it is fixed. Beagle was slowing me down, turned that crap off too. So far everything else is solid.

I installed kde version. except minor problems everything is fine.
problems
1) my homefolder of 10.3 got deleted. No warning or advice was given.
2)I changed session type from kde to metacity(of course it is not installed)my screen got blank. I could get back kde only after getting advice from this forum.
3) I have a dualboot system with windows vista ultimate on c drive. I cannot see contents of c drive.

not sure about the rest of the troubles in this thread, but found some info. in particular beagle is known problem:

If 10.3 is/was the perfect(ed) (v)10, then perhaps 11.2 or 11.3 will be the perfect 11 :-)

Not sure if this has been addresses or not but...We have an OpenSuse 10 server we use for network monitoring (Nagios, GLPI & OCS Inventory) and are upgrading to a new server.
Easy, install OpenSuse 11 and copy over most of the configs no problem. HOWEVER I am finding OpenSuse, or maybe its KDE unstable. More often than not KWRITE fails to launch and as this is how I edit the hundreds of config files its a nightmare - even restarting the server does not always fix it.
Has anyone else come across this with KDE 4? I know I could just install another editor or something like NANO but it seems pointless if it is unstable?

Frankly, I have a stable running openSUSE 11.2(RC) and KDE4, complete with gui gizmos. Prior to that, 11.1 was stable with KDE4. For edits, I have always used Midnight Commander as root in a console, but Kwrite will launch with a double click in a file manager. When I install, I always use custom so that I control what is happening, a habit.
I should add that the instability I did have was using SLi, although I figured out the edits for my problems. I have since purchased a single card that can out-perform my dual set-up, and went back to a single card. All KDE4 issues went away for me after 11.0.
