New update Kernel-bigsmp-Kernel with PAE Support

I just downloaded this update and when ever I mess with the kernel it screws up nvidia so I didn't install it. Would this have the same affect?

Any kernel update will screw around with the nVidia settings, but it's a simple fix to reinstall the driver. The question you have to ask, is "do I need to update the kernel?"

Most kernel updates are for a reason (security, bug fixes etc.), so the answer is usually yes.
