Networking Suse10 and XP

Hello!

Ok, this is the situation.

I have a home Lan that consists of 4 PC's, and everything is working fine.
My main box is running XpPro and has ICS enabled. All of my other machines have access to the internet and all can see and access their shares.

I've just finished installing OpenSuse from the 5 cd's (default installation) on one of the PC's, updated everything, did the jemreport hacking opensuse article and apperantly everything is working fine (btw loving it!!) until I tried to configure the Lan.

I went into Yast, and configured the Samba Client (all I did was to type in the Workgroup)

I tried to open the samba network and I got an error message saying that the connection might be firewalled.... so went back to yast and disabled the firewall. Open the lan back up, and finally I can see my Lan.., but all I can see is this PC and not the others!

If anyone can give me and the others that might have this prob a quick guide on setting up a LAN between suse10 and xp for filesharing will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

You are going to have to edit your samba conf file. Whenever I have filesharing going on between Windows and Linux, I simply run ProFTPd on my linux box and have the windows boxes connect through that, it just seems so much easier :-).

I did the same thing you mentioned above and all my computers show up. Even the laptop shows. All but this machine are XP Pro, the laptop is XP Home.

Check maybe that everything is in the same workgroup? Maybe some are in MSHOME?
