Need your opinion on which SuSE version to run

Hi,

I'm running a server on SuSE Linux (openSUSE to be exact).

Currently, it's on 10.0, but I have the option of having it reinstalled completely (they would create a "VPS template" or an image I guess) as 10.1 or 10.2. So I'm wondering... if you chose between 10.0, 10.1, and 10.2 for a server, which would you choose?

Thank you,

Splenden

Unless there is something you need on one of the newer versions or it is unstable I would leave it alone.

I'm trying to keep it as hardened as possible, so the only feature I'd like is security. Does 10.1 or 10.2 deliver improved security versus 10.0?

Thank you.

I'd never use open suse for a server. I'd go for Debian or Slackware (if it's a small server). If your server works fine leave it as it is.

Unfortunately since it's already set up using SUSE I'm not sure if I can change it over, but I'll check.

Thanks to both of you!

I was running Ubuntu 6.06 as a print server but I now have opensuse 10.2 running as a file and print server at home just fine.

Actually my last 10.1 machine was just upped to 10.2 last night, and I am very happy with the decision.

now that Ubuntu is gone, no more sudo everything ( that was VERY annoying to me) - heck even with a root account i could not find a way to log in as root.

I'd go Suse 10.2 or Slack as a recomendation, just my 2 cents.

PS Suse 10.2 changed over to ext3 by default. It can still read/write reiser FS though.
I have heard of people upgrading, personally i did a fesh install from 10.1 to 10.2 that went smooth.
