Am no Suse Expert.. but arent you supposed to use YAST or something to install packages to maintain dependencies? Besides to help you we need more information from you. What packages are you trying to install?? what are the dependency errors..
|
This is the way most Linux distros are. Since there are thousands of packages you wouldn't want to install them all (unless you have an EMC array or the like just for the purpose) especially since many of them do similar things. You have to choose what you want.
Not really familiar with YAST. On my RH EL I use RedHats up2date for most stuff and it will deal with dependencies. However for other things wanted I'll usually have to go somewhere like rmpfind get the package. Normally the package description will tell you about any dependencies it may have. |
Patience is a virtue!
Just satisfy all the dependencies with YaST. Only Yast can help you in this case. See what it needs and what it asks. install necessary libraries and packages and voila. |
Hi crass,
just go to Control center >YAST modules > and then choose Software> Installation sources. Then add the following urls: http://packman.iu-bremen.de /suse/9.x http://ftp.gwdg.de /pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/9.x ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov /pub/suse/i386/9.x ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.x/yast-source Hope it will help regards |
