I have a quite old Logitech Mouseman Wheel, which I have used for years and still love. It is a conventional wired PS/2 interfaced mouse with the usual two buttons and a scroll wheel, plus one thumb button - just one thumb button, not two like many Mouseman products that are on the market currently.
I want to use that thumb button as "Back" in Firefox, and have been really struggling to make this happen. At this point, I have it doing "Forward", but can't figure out how to make it do "Back" - any and all help much appreciated.
Here is what I have done to date. In xorg.conf, I have the following for the mouse section:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "Buttons" "6"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Name" "PS2++ Logitech Wheel Mouse"
Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2"
Option "Vendor" "Sysp"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6"
EndSection
Then, in /etc/profile.local, I have added:
Code:
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 4 5"
This gets all the buttons working, but I am struggling with how to get Firefox to recognize the thumb button as "Back" instead of "Forward".
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks!
