local update server (for both YOU and Yast software updates)

Hi list;

I want to setup a single box in my network to pull all YOU updates as well as
Yast software updates from the internet. Then I can point all the boxes in my
network to this new server for both YOU updates and yast repository files.
I'm running SuSE 10 (ythe boxed distro).

I found an article that addresses this but in the article directs the user to
"open YaST to the YOU Server Configuration module". As far as I can see I
have no YOU server configuration module in Yast.

Am I missing something here? Where should I find the asbove mentioned module?
If I ttruly dont have it is it something I can install?

Also, the article addresses YOU updates however I want to control all Yast
updates (i.e. select all packages and choose 'update if newer version
exists') in the same fashion. Can someone point me to documentation on how to
do this. I did a google search but only came up with the article I mentioned
above
(http://searchopensource.techtarget.c...301&ad=549006).

Thanks in advance for your help.

/Kevin

Unless you are staying indefintely with 10.0 the amount of effort put into this might not be worth it.

It seems that 10.1 (and all future releases)will use (when it's been mended) a totally new system for installing (and updating) software.

YAST looks like while it's still around to be relegated for doing purely administrative system functions.

My take on this would be that it wouldn't be worthwhile at this stage to spend too much time relying on YAST as a tool for installing and updating Software.

I could be wrong but if you read the experiences of people who've been testing 10.1 betas I think you'll see that Software Installation and updates IS an issue that is still ongoing.
