Hi
I've just bought this laptop Aspire 1362LMi. which came with winxp home. on my desktop i already have linux installed, and i am pretty used to it, so it's hard to move back to windows. Therefore i wanna install SuSe on my laptop.
I encounter a few problems, all related to powermanagement. I tried the suse 9.2 live evaluation cd (but also tried with ubuntu linux installed on the laptop, which gave me the same problems)
But give me the same problems. I think due to acpi problems.
first of all, this laptop comes with a AMD mobile sempron 2800+ processor ( K8) So ofcourse i tried the powernow-k8 module.
In dmesg it gives me the error :
powernow-k8: vid trans failed, vid 0x3, curr 0x4
powernow-k8: transition frequency failed
This processor has 2 frequencies, 800 and 1600. the processor keeps running on 1600 mhz.
Also the cpu fan keeps spinning, even when the laptop is pretty much idle.
Anyone here that uses a mobile sempron processor, and has no problems and or fixed this problem?
Anyone can give me a url for powermanagement strategies or how to fix problems with acpi??
Thanks a lot in advance for any response.
