I have two problems with the media protocol (media:/) in Konqueror. Based on my experience with other distributions, there seems to be something different with the implementation in SuSE.
1) I cannot see CDROM drives. I can mount them fine from command line, but the media protocol has no icon corresponding to my CDROM drive.
2) USB storage devices are displayed automatically upon being plugged in, and I can mount them from the Konqueror GUI. However, I cannot unmount them from the GUI by right-click, which was possible in Slackware. I must unmount them from command line.
I'm not sure if these peculiarities are inherent to SuSE, or whether they are the result of my bad configuration files. As far as I know, /etc/fstab might affect the media protocol, but I am unsure. Just in case, here is my fstab file:
Quote:
/dev/sda7 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1
/dev/sda5 /data vfat user,users,gid=users,umask=0002,utf8=true 0 0
/dev/sda1 /windows vfat user,users,gid=users,umask=0002,utf8=true 0 0
/dev/sda6 swap swap pri=42 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? Or perhaps if I forgot to install a package or if there's another configuration file I need to edit?
