When I try to upgrade to KDE 3.3.1 I get a whole host of confilcts. Initially I downloaded the RPMs, and ran them all from a Konsole. I got a few dependancy problems, so downloaded the relevant RPMs to resolve them.
Only to find that now I get hundreds of xyz 1.2 conflicts with xyz 0.9 type errors. Do I need to uninstall KDE 3.3.0 first?
Best would be to use apt4rpm. It is in fact very easy. You need only to install 3 RPMs: apt-libs, apt, synaptic. You would need only the components: base update security kde3-stable in your sources.list.

OK so I got it sorted, I used the wrong rpm switch I think. I tried -Uhv and that just produced one single error to do with Kaffeine. I unistalled kaffiene and it worked a treat. I will take on board what you both recommend for next time.
