JFS Question

Hi Everyone;

Is support for jfs & jfs2 included the default Suse 10.x kernel?

xor

Ps I'm pretty sure it is but I would like to verify.

Yes.. it has jfs. jfs2?? I was not aware that IBM had moved jfs2 to a free software status. jfs is variant of the jfs from OS/2. IBM's jfs2, is different... but shows its roots even if somewhat radically different from the original jfs.

The jfs source code is available correct? So if you wanted to you could make your own variant of jfs, call it myjfs? If such a filesystem existed how could you reverse engineer the parameters in order to read it without the original source. This is a forensics question so please don't get the wrong idea just thinking out loud.

Ps What makes a file system unique, the nitty gritty please. Or a link to where I can find this information.
