Recently my broadband internet is not starting at boot. I have checked my DSL settings and Ethernet card. Moreover same settings in Windows XP working fine.
Also tell me how to reconnect if connection is timed out or broken. How to bring icon showing status of connection in taskbar?

As root, in a terminal, run ifconfig. The output should show if your Network connection is up - you will have an IP address. If not run

ifup eth0

(assuming the interface is eth0)

Either the interface will come up or the messages will give you a clue to what the problem is.

Open a terminal, post output of:
Code:
/sbin/ifconfig -a
/sbin/iwconfig -a
/sbin/lsmod
Note, you can redirect output to a file:
Code:
/sbin/lsmod > lsmod.txt

It is useful to post your solution so that other people with the problem will have a clue what to try.
