I downloaded the mini iso, to perform an internet installation.
Is it posible to boot from the pendrive?? O I will need to burn a cd?
Thanks alex
I didn't understand -Burn a cd anyway then look at installing to a pen drive using info on this forum
Edit I thought I'd have a look at this anyhow and d/l the iso. Burned a CD but could not get it to install from that ,put the iso on a USB stick and could not get it to run from that either ,md5 sum checked out
Internet instalation wanted to go off to the originating site and get the file again so I am confused what you mean by "to perform an internet installation"
What is your base system. Do you have linux on it already or a Live distro like knoppix. If so, you could mount the image using a loopback device, copy the files to the pendrive, and use grub to boot to the kernel and initrd on the pendrive. I'm not certain if you can simply copy the image using dd to copy the image to the pendrive, and have it boot. What won't work is simply copying the file to the filesystem and having the image file boot the computer. It is possible to use an image file as a source after installing. I have the DVD image on my harddrive that I use to install new packages.
When you burned the ISO image, did you burn it as an image instead of burning the file on the disk?
