Installation Issue

hi,
I am new to suse. After selcting the installation options, the system stops its work after configuring the monitor.I read in suse manual that it may be due to bad screen resolution and changing it will solve the problem.i tried these things even for a text mode install but nothing worked for me
Thanks for any help.
regards,
tom.

Tom,

Tell us what hardware ou are trying to install on. Make, model of CPU, ampunt RAM, video card, etc.

Also, what version of SUSE are you installing?

If it is a laptop, especially, search for suse and the model # of your computer. You may need to manually configure one or two things. I recently came across this with an older model Thinkpad.

hi,
i tried it in both my college and at my home.In my college , it's a hp system running Athlon XP 2400+ 32 bit with 256 mb of ram.It must have a compatible graphics card as even dsl supports it very well.In my home,it's a AMD Athlon Xp 3000+ 64bit with 512 mb of ram
The version of suse may be 10.1 for 32 bit architecture as i am not sure .i downloaded the latest version from the net just two weeks ago.
In the text install mode it stops working after displaying the messages,
starting udevk
starting haldk

regards,
Tom.
