I want KDE to start by default.

Hello ...
I have a problem, which is: whenever I log in to my SuSe 9.3, I get this strange desktop envirnoment "TWM", I want to get "KDE" instead.

I want KDE to start by default.

any ideas?

Hey there, this is a long shot, im not home, so i cant test it.

Logout, and hopefully, you should get the SUSE 9.3 login screen, in the bottom right, there are two buttons, on says system, the other, something else, maybe desktop. I cant remember which, but find the one where you can choose between several desktops, widowmaker, kde and etc, choose kde, you can set it as default there.

I think! Ill report back when i have tested.

Make sure that you have set DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm" in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and DEFAULT_WM="kde" in /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager.

I think the solution that Hairulfr gave is much more easy. Don't you get a login screen or something?

The above problem is known in 9.3 and I think it comes with the installation of the NVIDIA driver. If the login magager is not kdm, you will not get the menu to choose from (since this comes with kdm). But I agree: it would be more easy
