I can not login to SuSE 10 as root user in graphical mode

Hi, I have a problem with SuSE Linux 10.0. After installing SuSE on my system, I could login to it as root user several times (1 - 5 times) but after that it behaved such a strange manner...
After I entered the user name and password of the root user and pressed Enter to login the screen goes black for a short time and then the login screen comes back with out any error message so I can login as root user no more. Another strange point is that the root user is working properly when I am logging to it with su command.
I installed SuSE again, also I tested it on another system but I still have the same problem.
Help me please!

Perhaps the X config for root is wonky ? did you make any changes to X the last time you successfully got in as root ?

Some distros disable graphical login as root for various reasons. Look at your kdmrc file and check if root logins are disabled or tinker with the login manager settings in kcontrol.

Did you recently install yahoo messenger under the root account? In this case, look here:

linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc | grep AllowRootLogin
AllowRootLogin=false
linux:/ #

Check to see what KDMRC says
