How to upgrade Amarok in Suse?


My amarok is 1.3.1, 1.3.3 is available, how to use Yast to upgrade it?

well first start off by downloading amarok and the required rpms. go to http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...=/Sound/amarok there you should be able to find all you need. once you download the amarok rpm just open it up and choose install with yast. it will tell you if it needs something else if it does check the site to see if its there if not google search for the rpm. its not that hard. good luck

It looks like the main SuSE mirrors should have amarok 1.3.3 available, acoording to the SuSE site, at least the ones up to date as of the 13th of October.

Otherwise, their main site lists each individual package:

They mention the only required package is an up to date kernel too.

Do i need to uninstall old amarok first? Can both of the co-exist?

using yast it should automatically uninstall the older version when you go to upgrade to avoid any problems.

i tried already, have to uninstall amarok 1.3.1 first, then install 1.3.3, but helix-plugin does not work, error message, then MP3 dos not play.

you need to install the lame rpm to play mp3s your gonna have to google search for it though. Im not sure if its legal to tell you where to find it. Buts its not to hard to find
