how to restore repositories and cd's to install software ?

Hi,

I have installed SuSE for the second time (having changed my laptop). I mean a 9.3 professional fresh installation without other os.
Well, after having played adding Yast Repositories, now I can't install anything.
I would like to restore at least the repository of the 5 installation cd's.

How can I do this ? Is there a file that stores the repositories path ?
Is there a way to add/remove repositories with a command line and not via Yast ?

Thank you

What do you see when you go to YaST --> Software --> Change Source of Installation?

I am nowhere near my Linux box so this is fro memory. On that screen there should be an option to add. Click on it, a dropdown menu with various types of sources should appear. Click on CD. And add.

For packman, if you use the http repository add that. If the site is http://www.packman.com/suse/9.3 , you would enter it as:

www.packman.com where it asks you to specify the http address, and
suse/9.3 where it asks for the directory.

I'll try to remember this thread when I get home and clarify if needs be.

I had tried to do as you suggest. Packman is ok, but cd's won't be added. YaST inserts cd:\\\ path only, then it says to me that it's not an installation source. I think I should mount the five iso's as a normal directory and add a directory source. But this is a pity, because I have not that big hard disk.

I don't know...can you help me more ?

If this can help, when I try to interrogate YaST about installed packages it gives me no result. For example if I try to uninstall Amule, it says that no Amule package is installed (when I know it's up and running if I want)...
It seems it's completely broken as it doesn't see with my system and my cd's...

Sounds like a problem that is beyond me. Have you tried adding the CD source with the 1st CD in the drive?

No, nothing works...anyway I added an official repository containing the 5 suse 9.3 iso's and it seems to work.
the PRO is that I won't have to change cd's at everytime I have to install a software
the CON is that is much more slower...

...I'm going to say I'm happy with this solution, or at least half hapy

Anyway thanks so much, you have been so kind with me !
