[SOLVED] how to hide some of opened windows ??

hiii ,
i am using SUSE 11.0 KDE 4.0 , I had set 4 virtual desktops.
Before this version, i had used SUSE 10.2, there also i had set 4 virtual desktops. I can open any program in all the 4 desktops. The windows of opened programs are shown in taskbar. In this (10.2 ) version i had a option to hide the windows that are opened in other desktops.
But in this latest (11.0) version there is no option to hide windows running in other desktops. My taskbar has all the windows, I want to show only 2 or 3 windows.
can u suggest any solution ??

This is a wild guess on my part, but I'm going to bet it was the switch to KDE4. 4.0 was widely criticized for being released too early and was missing a large number of useful features (note that I haven't yet touched KDE4 myself).

4.2 is due to be officially released in a couple of days, so you might try upgrading to it (or even the current 4.1) and see if it gives you your feature back.

you gave me suggestion that to update KDE, i have a doubt regarding this!. At the time of OS installation i had installed KDE, so to install new version of KDE am i required to get new version of SUSE ??

No, you can just update KDE through the online update tool. However, the latest OpenSuSE is 11.1, and has KDE 4.1xx by default.

No, unlike with Windows, the desktop environment is independent of the underlying OS. It's a separate set of programs. While each version of suse comes with a default desktop, you can freely upgrade, downgrade, switch to a different environment such as gnome or xcfe, alternate between different DE's, or even go with no graphics at all.

If kde 4.1 or 4.2 don't do what you want, you can even revert to kde 3, which was probably the default for suse 10.

Your only trouble might be if your software manager doesn't offer packages for the desktop you want. Then you might have to get them from another source or compile them yourself. I've never used suse, so I personally don't know what they have.
