How to configure GRUB to wait for me to choose the OS

I've a friend with MS who cannot always move quickly and/or predictably. He is dual-booting Windows XP Professional and SUSE Linux 9.2 Professional and he'd like the GRUB boot menu to pause (wait indefinitely) for his OS choice. Is there any way to configure his GRUB installation to observe a "no default OS" rule, thereby effectively waiting for his choice/selection?

If not, I guess I could always set his timeout value to a really long period of time. If I have to go this route, what is the maximum that I can set for that value?

Thanks.

the command default 0 (or 1 etc) merely highlights the preferred entry
if you don't want a timer then with root powers delete the timeout command from your /boot/grub/menu.lst

If MS user can not decide which system to boot up....the timer may not be the best solution.....heh heh
