How to configure & install FreeDos using it source

i have download 2 files
  1. dosemu-freedos-b9r5-sources
  2. dosemu-1.2.2
i have unzip them..
tar -zxvf dosemu-freedos-b9r5-sources.tgz
tar -zxvf dosemu-1.2.2.tgz

i have 'make' & 'make install' inside folder dosemu-1.2.2

then i do a 'xdos' inside a directory " linux:~/dosemu-1.2.2/bin # ./xdos

I get the following error:

Sorry,there is no operating system
Please try to install FreeDos from dosemu-freedos-*-bin.tgz

Maybe i know what have gone wrong?
Is my compile of dosemu-freedos-b9r5-sources.tgz to binary executable. Wrong?

Try dosbox

I don't like dosemu, it doesn't work well enough

dosbox works better on graphically dos games better than dosemu

just google for it, it has its own site
