How do you make a dvd from the cd's
I want to make a dvd from the 5 cd's or better still the iso's what is the easiest way to do this?
Using K3B if possible?   |
Yes, k3b burns single and dual layer dvd's with proper hardware. I'm not sure what you mean by burning 5 CD's as a DVD. If you mean the Suse 9.3 distro, the DVD iso is freely available at opensuse.org. If you mean something else, you're going to have to be more specific.

I want to make a dvd from the 5 cd's of the 10 beta 3 x86_64, as far as I know this is not available as a dvd iso.
Thanks still need to figure out how you make a dvd from 5 cd's. I have seen a website before for this on one of the replies, but cannot remember where. :Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: |
Yes, it can be done but has nothing to do with k3b. You have to recreate the package lists and then make a bootable iso. Not worth the trouble for a beta, if you ask me. But, you aren't, so nevermind.

This has been asked before in the last two or three weeks. Search in the Suse forum for a thread similar to yours and there is post with an answer to your question.

I found something in a german SUSE forum. I have not tested it myself. This is a crude translation:
1. create a new folder (here: /tmp) 2. mount all ISO's one by one mount -o loop -t iso9660 Isodatei1.iso /mnt copy the content of /mnt to /tmp repeat with all ISO's 3. open a console, login as root, cd to /tmp and type mkisofs -v -r -J -b boot/loader/isolinux.bin -c boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -o /tmp/meine.iso 15 min you will get the iso file (here: meine.iso), which you can burn to DVD. You can also download the LINUX version of Nero and make the bootable DVD
use the following in the BOOT parameters for Nero options BOOTABLE DVD ISO == 1999 Boot Image --ISOLINUX.BIN No Emulation Nr of Sectors 4 Extract all the files from the CD's to /TMP as the previous post says Then Burn the compilation. You cam also do it on 'DOZE' if you have Nero on 'DOZE -- use something like ISOBUSTER to extract the boot (isolinux.bin ) image from CD 1. Try it with a DVD+RW / DVD-RW first to avoid wasting media in case of an error --set the ISO option to 1999 so you can use very long file names. Cheers -K |
Guys,
There is an excellent tool available on the net tailor made for such requirements and its called..... JIGDO although some claim it works only for Debian based systems, but i know a lot of people who have successfully used it for/under other distros. Jigdo links......... http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-Jigdo/ u need to search around a bit for templates and the exact methodology to be adopted, but if u r willing to take pain u can really finish ur task effectively |
