How do I upgrade to OpenOffice 1.1.4?

I'm running SuSe 9.2 pro on my box and have the SuSe build of OpenOffice 1.1.3 installed. Now I've noticed that OpenOffice has released version 1.1.4, which I would like to upgrade to. Unfortunately I can't find a SuSe build anywhere. Does that mean that I can't upgrade and that I have to install 1.1.4 sparately, hence losing all my settings??????

uninstall oo and tnen download the new version on oo's official site(www.openoffice.org). thay provide install package(not rpm package), following the instruct and install.(before install u'd better have j2re on u computer, it could make u oo more faster).

But wouldn't that mean that I'd lose all my sttings, including KDE-integration abd Quickstart?

you can try to upgrade and see(if upgrading is a must)

You won't lose kde integration but you will lose the SUSE integration. SUSE tweaks the version of OO that it ships so it has different icons and a slightly different look. And the links to all the OO programs in the kde menu will still be linked to the old version after you install 1.1.4.

I only use one link "soffice" and start oo in gnome-terminal by type soffice

Just be sure to delete the "hidden" file called .sversionrc in your home directory before installing the new version of OpenOffice.org.

The OOo installation instructions page cautions that this is necessary so that the new version will be recognized.

It's not even necessary to delete the old version, and all your settings, etc. should be maintained with the new version.

You should wait till they release the official version of 1.1.4

Right now the one on the site is a release candidate. I did that the last time and ended up losing a lot of settings in the final release.

thanks guys. I have toyed around a bit and ended up with a parallel installation of 1.1.3 and 1.1.4. I must admit, I like SuSe's tweaked version better than the 1.1.4 available on OOO's website, so I'll stick with it until SuSe comes up with a new version.
