I have had a lot of trouble with a video card. Anyways, every time sax2 autodetects my hardware my monitor isn't available on the list and of course isn't set as my monitor. I have tried 'sax2 -r', but it didn't work. I can't think of why the -r option is there if it isn't for that. Anyways.
I would like to have my monitors info in sax2 to start out with. I currently get it from manufacturer's disk. I don't even see linux drivers when I look on it but it works.
As an alternative you can select one of the VESA profiles which most closely matches the capabilities of your monitor(s). That's what I do for our ViewSonic P815s, because the profiles for the P815 in SaX2 do not match what the P815's actual specs.
Just by chance it happend that I have a Samsung Syncmaster, too. However, I did not edit the YaST list of monitors, but changed the settings of an existing configuration, just like KimVette suggests.
You'll find the monitor specifications on the manufacturers CD in the folder MANUAL/EN/specs/index.htm
