GUI for SuSE 9.1 Pro refuses to load

Brand new to linux, and got over the first hurdle of installing it yesterday night. I changed a few of the hardware settings, through YaST, then shutdown for the night. Today, I boot, and instead of seeing KDE start up, I'm stuck at the command line. So far, I've tried startx and startkde, neither of which work. If there is any other info that I can provide to make the situation clearer, feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, and if this helps any; I'm running a dual boot system using two 80gig hard drives. The first hard drive is Windows only, and the second is where I installed SuSE 9.1 Professional. The hardware setting changes I remember making where to my monitor setting (changed from generic to Sony Multiscan100GS [it's really a Multiscan110GS, but i'm hoping there isn't a huge difference]), my video card driver to GeForce FX 5200, I think I also edited the network card driver to Intel Pro/100 series (integrated network connection), and lastly my sound card driver to Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 .....(something followed that I can't remember).

Thanks again.

Try running "sax2" from the terminal and re-enable your Generic Monitor Driver.

Then try startx again. That should get you back to KDE.

What error messages did you get when you startx?

Damantis, running sax2 worked. Got my KDE back.
When I used startx i got the following error

[...]
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config"
(EE) No devices detected

Fatal server error:
No screens found:

XIO: fatal IO error 104(connection reset by peer) on X server "0:0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

DavidPhillips- tried /var/log/X*log, and it gave me a Permission Denied, even when logged in as root.

Oh well. It's working now, appreciate the help!
