Get "Online 'YOU' Updates" to install offline
 

This is probably a stupid question, but is it possible to download the SuSE 9.3 Professional updates onto a CD or some other medium for use on another computer that doesn't have Internet access?

I tried finding the files on the ftp.suse.com site, and figured I could simply copy the files onto a CD or some other medium, and then add it as an installation source in YaST, or tell 'YOU' to look at a different location.

However, I couldn't find the files on the FTP site, and I tried downloading some files I thought were the updates, but the files took so long to download, and they changed while I was downloading them.

I routinely download SuSE updates using gftp. I save them to a hard drive. Then I back them up to a CD-RW using cdrecord. I install them from the hard drive using kpackage. On occasion I have installed one from the backup CD using kpackage. In days of yore before kpackage was written I used rpm instead. I have been doing it this way for 5 years.

Once they are on the CD you can run the Patch CD Yast module to load the patches.

I used the page on SuSE that was provided, and downloaded the updates via rsync to my laptop. I found that I could not burn them to a CD, because it was over a gigabyte worth of updates.

I did transfer them to the machine I wanted to update (which, again, has no Internet connection) and pointed "YOU" to a location on the hard drive. They took fine... with one exception: MP3 support. On SuSE update, these are listed as "Multimedia Packs". For whatever reason, these packs don't come up as an optional "download" in YOU (when I'm installing from the "offline" computer I'm trying to update).

I did download updates from the ftp.gwdg.de mirror, which was suggested on madpenquin.org (not sure on URL).

Anyway, any ideas? Thanks for the tidbits so far... I have found that Novell's site isn't the easiest thing to find information on.
