Forgot my root passwd


im trying to login but i cant remember my password, im already on the rescue terminal, but when i try to change passwd it says "User not known to the underlying authentication module", id really REALLY appreciate some help as soon as posible

try typing:

passwd root
see if that's recognized, then see if just passwd works.

If that doesn't work, go get a gnetoo liveCD and read through the Handbook (link on homepage : http://gentoo.org ) use i to mount and chroot into your suse install. then try passwd again.

i tried the whole /etc/shadow thing
and i erased the whole root line, i dunno what else to do, i was reading it from another thread, but im lost, id appreciate some more help

adn well actually i just left it like this "root::"
and when i tried to open a command prompt [since my mouse doesnt work] with the keyboard, i opened a terminal with superuser, all it said was password, and i typed it and i dunno i tried logging in and it doesnt work

i didnt back it up, but the line i erased i could just type it in again

which partition is your root (/) partition?
do you have the capability to burn a CD on this computer?

right now it left me change it, the thing is that it just asked to type it once, and what happened i think, is that i either typed it wrong, or it just didnt work, i hope it was just the first one
