You could be better of using SMART for package management in Suse instead of RUG,YAST and related packages. You can download smart from here.

If you run via yast, you'll get that same error. (I tried that after I did rug update).

If you just ignore it, and install anyways it runs through just fine.

ok so i installed smart and when i did

Quote:

smart update
it went aways and then came to ftp://suse.org i think and said ker error. it just sat there forever so i closed the terminal and tried the gui and it says that smart is in ready-only mode. I'm not sure what to do here, i've been using debian for years and i guess i'm just not used to "smart" can someone help me get this going. thanks.

i found a half ass solution, if i do

Quote:

smart --ignore-locks install or update

it works, but how can i make smart work correctly?

If you notice my reply above, it's the package not really SMART.
