dual screen/ tv output - help please

Hi everyone,

I'm new to SUSE and new to Linux. In order for it to replace Windows for me it needs to be doing a few things I haven't been able to figure out yet - one of them being the tv-output. I have an ati radeon x700-pro graphics card with svid output hooked up to my TV and my regular screen.
SUSE 9.3 recognizes the card and even gives me an option for dualscreen, but when I click apply in the ati-controlcenter it says I must restart X-server. I'm not entirely sure how to do that, but I hit ctrl+alt+BS log in and nothing changes. when I go back into the ati-center it didn't save the settings. If I click ok and reboot - same thing. nothing, the tv remains black.
I find it frustrating that windows has no problems detecting and using my tv.
I could try new drivers from the ati website - would that help maybe? Or will I have to manually edit the xorg.conf? Though I really don't see that happening, since I don't know any options to pass or what to do.
Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks in andvance!

Yes, you have to edit xorg.conf. Search those forums for some related threads.
