This most probably can't be done. They have changed many of the default directories in xorg 7.2 so you would need to compile most of the packages.
Novell did a "great" decision by using a nonstable X server on this goldmaster. Come on, this really sucks. Ati just can't do anything about the support for xorg 7.2 because it isn't even released ( release date 11 of december) .
You will just have to wait and see. Im in the same boat with you, and as said before, this is my last ATI card anyways...
I was thinking it would be a good idea to upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2. it indeed is, if one likes all the windows menus and all the other stuff not really needed,....*g
ok. I had the same problem with my ati x1400 since ati does not support xorg 7.2. There is a way to fix it. But indeed you just have to force rpm to install the following 3 or 4 packages (I used the 10.1 xorg 6.9 packages):
since xorg 7.2 there is an additional package xorg-x11-driver-input. input was included in another package in the earlier xorg versions. you only have to remove the above 7.2 packages including xorg-x11-driver-input and install the above mentioned 6.9 or 7.1 packages.
in addition you will have to make a new symbolic link to /usr/bin/xorg (I am not sure if the directory is correct) since the directory of xorg was changed to user (see also opensuse release tips); otherwise kdm would not start...
for me it worked fine, the only problem is, that I can't change the keyboard settings... perhaps I find a solution soon...
