Don't laugh, I don't know, updating drivers question

SUSE Open 10.3, everything is running fine.

Question: I loaded the NVidia drivers and the drivers for my Samsung printer with the forums help. After doing this does the system automatically load any "NEW" updates? If not how do you know to do it again?

How do I get a listing of all the driver numbers and system configuration information?

Please be explicit in your answers, read that as telling me exactly what to do.

Why do updates (unless they are security fixes) and risk borking your system?

Usually, if there are security updates available, these will be checked for every so often by the zen-updater daemon, which appears as a small icon in your panel menu. In 10.3, it will change to a warning triangle to alert you of an security updates available for your system. If you wish to update, you can just click on the icon and the updates will be downloaded and installed automatically. For any non-security updates, you will have to add these repositories to the list in YaST and usually update from there to see what is available. However, as mentioned, be cautious about what you update, as it could adversely affect your system (believe me, I know).

That was not what you posted. You never indicated something was "going on" you asked about doing updates. I merely posed the question why update unless there's a security fix or something is broken! No need to be up in arms, you got what you needed from swampdog2002.

I guarantee you won't like having to put right a system that was working perfectly until you applied a pointless update.
