does xmms work in SUSE 9.3

I have read about the lack of mp3 support "out of the box" in the latest release of SUSE...available only through RealPlayer (yuck). I downloaded xmms through apt4suse, but I cannot get the player to open my mp3s, located at home/music in various folders arranged by artist. Is it because of the lack of support, or is it just because I am doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.

Edit: mp3 files are playable in RealPlayer, but if I am stuck using it for much longer I may end up going insane!

U may need to get the mp3 patch for XMMS and install it.

U can download it from here
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/freshrp...13.p.i386.html
or may be find it for your distro here

@kencaz - I tried apt-get install xmms-mp3 but it tells me that it cannot find the package...is there an alternate download method?

@redhatrosh - your first link is dead...leads me to a "lost in the WWW" page - I also cannot find the mp3 patch anywhere on the xmms.org site...where should I be looking?

Thank you all once again for your help!

Try this file:
ftp://fr.rpmfind.net/linux/freshrpms...-13.p.i386.rpm

go to a root terminal:
rpm -ivh xmms-mp3-1.2.7-13.p.i386.rpm

Works fine for me when I updated through the YaST Online Update (YOU). I'm not sure what specifically I selected, but I did select all the multimedia patches. I also have xmms-mp3, so if you do that, everything should be fine.
