dgen-sdl - installed but not there?

Hello there :)

Installed suse 10.2 last week and am enjoying it a lot, got everything I need except for good games so I downloaded this Megadrive ($Genesis) emulator called dgen-sdl, got it from a packman resource. I downloaded it through Yast which is fine but unlike all the other programs I've gotten, this one hasn't installed or at least isn't under my applications menu? Could someone please tell me why and get me up and running? got a few .roms ready to go if thats the format used for this? It has made a dgen executable in my usr/bin directory but i double click on it and nothing happens? I'd quite like it as a shiny desktop icon ready for use if possible?

(One other quick thing, I use gxine as my default media player and when i put .avi's on my desktop, they show as just the normal boring .avi type icon, but when i was running Mepis they showed as like mini screencaps from a few mins in as their icon pictures, how to i enable that? right clicked on an .avi and clicked on preview but there doesn't seem to be an option there to set it as its icon? )

Still a bit of a n00b here but all advice is welcome

cheers,

Rob :)

Or if someone could recommend an alternative Megadrive/Genesis emulator and the installation source for it then I'd be very grateful :)

I'm afraid you need to use the command line to run Genesis games with dgen, it's not hard though. All you need to do is type
Code:

dgen <enter ROM file name here>
in a konsole or xterm prompt.

Any ideas on my second little problem?

In KDE you can make it so by right-clicking on the desktop, configure desktop/behaviour/file icons/video files in the show icons list.
