Customizing GNOME interface

I've just recently installed openSuSE, and am using the GNOME desktop. The default settings seem to be different than what I am used to, and would like to know if there is a way to alter its default behavior, such as when I click on the Computer button on the main panel that it lists all packages, rather than the Favorites that appear there. Basically, I would like it to look similar to how Dropline GNOME for Slackware appears, if this helps. I have looked at various settings in openSuSE for this, but haven't been able to locate any sort of customization settings for this. Thanks for any assistance in this.

There are three available menu options in SUSE 10.2. Sound like you have the "main menu" option selected. Alternately, there are also a "traditional main menu" and "menu bar" available by right clicking on the panel and selecting "add to panel".

The reply from geezerx is fine. Just to add that it would be useful to install the package gconf-editor, which will give a lot of options to customize the GNOME environment.
