Connecting A Kodak Digital Camera

I am uisng Suse9.1 with KDE 3.2

when I connect the camera and press dmesg I get these lines:

usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 2
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using address 3
usb 2-2: Product: KODAK EasyShare CX6200 Digital Camera
usb 2-2: Manufacturer: Eastman Kodak Company
usb 2-2: SerialNumber: CX62011751863

and when I open /media I find 2 folders with names usb-storage-0002F5CF6E364794:0:0:0p1 and usb-storage-1CD50D4173237667:0:0:0p1

but when I open any of them I find them empty !!!

I guess these lines I get after pressing dmesg mean that the laptop can see the camera but yet can't open the files in it

so any suggestions ??

In SUSE9.1, the interaction of submount/subfs and usb storage devices doesn't work very smooth. I would recommend to switch-off subfs for hotplugable devices and mount the camera the classical way.

Follow the directions in this article:
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/0...rom_subfs.html

You may then create an fstab entry for your camera. The only problem with this method appears if you have several usb-storage devices that you plug-in in different order. I will happen that the devicenames change depending on the order of detection.

But try mikedeatworlds suggestion first. Digikam works quite well on my system.
