compiz, window borders???

Iv'e got xgl working on opensuse 10.1, but my title bar/window borders have gone
They are there in kororra's gentoo version, do I need a compiz plugin?
Or have I missed something stupid?

I assume you are running KDE as I had the same problem. I resolved it by using the latest rpms available and 2 additional programs that added much in the way of plugins and control: gset-compiz and pykompiz. I'm sure there's other solutions but this add added functionality and control.

Pykompiz is a tray applet that switches between kwin and compiz and has a link to gset-compiz for preference control.

Gset-compiz is a preference tool with a very large number of options available (many not otherwise accessable?). It is Gnome but runs fine under kde.

If you use the compizquinn rpm there are additional plugins not available in Suse's.

You'll still need gnome-control-panel -> desktop affects for a few keyboard settings.

I've tryed reinstalling a newer version, still the same.

when trying to load gnome-window-decorator I get the following message:

-linux:~> gnome-window-decorator
gnome-window-decorator: symbol lookup error: gnome-window-decorator: undefined symbol: wnck_window_has_name

Iv'e followed the instrucyions for manually editing the xorg.conf files etc, but these all seem to have been auto-generated on xgl/compiz install.

I'm running in gnome.

Do you have libwnck installed? I've not had to edit anyting to get it to work

Got it, uninstalled and then used older versions that came on the cd.

Just need to sort out 3d support for games now.

liaty, what did you uninstall? Compiz? XGL? libwnck? I'm having the same problem and nothing seems to work.

liaty 06-19-2006 04:52 AM

I uninstalled only compiz, xgl and xgl hardware list.

Then reinstalled from cd through Yast.

The version numbers are:

xgl cvs_060503-3
xgl hardware list 060501-3
compiz cvs_060503-3

I didn't reinstall libwnck, but the version nuber I have is: 2.12.2-26

If this doesn't help, try uninstalling again, uninstall graphics card driver.

Reinstall graphics driver and then install xgl, xgl hardware list and compiz.
